Big Girl Car Seat

We are getting prepared for Vivi to transition to her "big girl car seat."  Her current car seat max's out at 30lbs and 30 inches.  Although she is no where near the 30lb limit, she is getting very close to reaching the maximum height so we recently bought a much larger car seat.  Daddy assembled it today and Vivi tried it out.....very comfy!

Mum, quit taking pictures and let Daddy work

Ok, now we're ready!  Perfect fit

Sitting Up

Vivi has started sitting up this weekend.  She is able to support herself on her hands by leaning forward.  Next, we will work on her posture : )

They Call Me Rice, Rice, Baby!

Vivi finally got her first taste of "solids."  After putting her high chair together, we were ready to try it out.  Daddy got to do the honors while I filmed and took pictures.  After an initial "yucky face", she decided that she liked something besides milk.  She had no problem taking it off the spoon so now rice cereal will become part of our daily routine.  Our baby is growing up!

Yeah, this looks sturdy enough
Open wide!
Wait a minute, I'm not sure I like this
Actually, it's not bad
Ok, somebody clean up this mess and get me down, my work here is done

Taste Buds

It has been a weekend of firsts for Vivi.  On Saturday, she had her very first taste of formula.  We started out with mixing a small amount of Earth's Best organic formula with breastmilk.  At first, she took an ounce but then figured out that something was different and refused to take any more, sealing her lips and shaking her head whenever she saw the sippy cup.  Next we tried Similac.  She seems to like this better and will take it from both of us but prefers it if Daddy gives her the sippy cup.  She's taken a few ounces each day and so far, it doesn't seem to be hurting her stomach.  I'm starting to feel much better about leaving for my girls trip in September!

No, I want Mama! (Notice the 2 different cups, trying out different formula)
I said stop!  I'm trying to decide if I like this or not
Thank you Daddy, I like it

Peek-a-boo

Now that Vivi sleeps on her stomach and can lift her head up, when she wakes up from a nap she peers over the crib to see us.  I love those first looks when she wakes.

Couch Potato

We went to dinner at a friends (Ali & Terry) house Saturday night and Vivi's eyes lit up when she spotted the Winnie The Pooh mini-couch.  Ali was kind enough to get it out for Vivi to play on - a favorite item of her grandchildren. The minute Vivi sat on "her couch", she threw one arm back and had a huge grin on her face!  I think she's ready to watch  cartoons : ) Needless to say, we will be purchasing a little couch of our own soon.

My First Australian Visitor

"Uncle Matt" came to see Vivi this weekend!  We are so glad that he was working in Houston for a few weeks and took the time to come and visit. We had a great weekend!  Vivi was completely smitten and stayed up late every night to ensure she didn't miss anything.  She enjoyed having someone else around who sounded like Daddy.  Vivi was so exhausted by the time Matt left that she fell asleep at 7:00pm that evening.  We enjoyed hanging out at the house and catching up and showing him around Farmington.  Mike & Matt played golf and we went to a cook-out at a friends house.  Sunday we drove to Durango, CO a bit early for lunch and a quick tour around town before his flight left.  We are looking forward to our next Australian visitor.....wonder who it will be!!

Where Has The Time Gone?

I can't believe that Vivi is 5 1/2 month old!  She is rolling over in both directions now, "running" through the kitchen in her walker and is starting to push up on her arms and legs to try and crawl.  It is amazing how much she has changed since we brought her home from the hospital.  Here are a few of our favorite pictures from the past few weeks.

Off The Charts!

Vivi had her 5 month Dr's appointment today.  She is now 17lbs (85%) and 27 1/4 long (off the chart).  She had her second set of shots and did very well.  We are looking forward to a nice, relaxing weekend at home.

Sleeping on my knees so the shots don't hurt

Moab, Utah

Happy 4th of July!  We spent ours in Moab, Utah, a 3.5 hour drive from Farmington, New Mexico.  Vivi travelled very well and we had a great time.  We stopped for lunch in the little town of Monticello on the way there.  We rented a house in Moab which was very nice.  The weather was hot so we headed out first thing in the mornings to explore.  We spent two mornings in Arches National Park taking in the beautiful scenery.  We were able to walk some of the less rocky trails with Vivi in her 3 wheel stroller and captured some nice photos.  We ate dinner out the first night at Desert Bistro (elk tenderloin) and Mike cooked the other two nights.  We enjoyed the indoor pool and having three days together as a family.
